OVERVIEW
Industrial safety and health of engineering activities are increasingly given greater emphasis in practice and law. This programme examines the latest statutory obligations of both the engineers and environment. It will also expose the engineers on the Occupational Safety and Health Management issues and related elements of safe systems at work. How do we ensure compliance of the latest Safety and Health Act? How can we implement and control a sound safety and health programme at our workplace?

OBJECTIVES
# To promote safety and health awareness at workplace.
# To create understanding on the Occupational Safety & Health Act and its regulations: Factories & Machinery Act and its regulations: Fire Services Act 1988 and its regulations.
# To provide guidance on the importance of safety and health in engineering works.

SYNOPSIS

The technical visit to Miri Shell ACE Virtual Reality Centre facility, which is the advance collaborative environment Virtual Reality facility set up to provided collaborative environment for multi disciplinary team and individual to work together.

The visit is strictly limited to only 20 participants registered on a first come, first served basis. Members/Students who are interested in the trip, are requested to return the attached reply slip to the Curtin Engineering Club, CUTEC by 12th APRIL 2012. There is no commitment fee to the visit.

SYNOPSIS

The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) Young Engineers Section (YES), is organizing a seminar regarding careers in engineering for secondary school students and the general public with collaboration with PUSTAKA-Miri.

The seminar is one of YES’s efforts to promote engineering disciplines to the students and raise public interests towards various engineering industries by exposing them to the engineering professionals. There will be talks introducing IEM, describing career opportunities available in various engineering disciplines and sharing on the challenges faced by professional engineers, together with interactions with the audiences.

On behalf of YES, Secondary School from Miri, Limbang and Lawas are cordially invited to take part in this seminar for the benefit of the students, particularly science stream students of Form 4-6. 

There is no registration fee required to sign up for this EYC Talk 2012 (Students’ parents or guardians are also welcomed). Refreshment will be provided during the break time of the session.. The detail program itinerary will be forwarded a to invited schools a week prior to the event.

SYNOPSIS

Project Management (PM) knowledge and its methodologies have evolved and improved significantly over the last three decades. This in part is attributable to many of the lessons learnt from the successes and failures of projects undertaken by organizations. This course gives the essence of project management, especially suitable for those who intend to gain a fundamental but solid grounding on project management. You will learn the structured and integrated approaches, processes, tools and techniques that are applicable to managing phase in project life cycle. The course contents are closely referenced to PMBOK Guide, 4th edition of the Project Management Institute.

 SYNOPSIS

The technical visit to Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) facility, which is the Marine Construction Yard (MCY).It is located in Kuala Belait in the Belait District of Negara Brunei Darussalam. The MCY includes the construction of BSP’s Major Projects jacket and topside fabrication. Past Major Projects that have been successfully fabricated in MCY includes Mampak, Magpie, Bugan and Selangkir/Iron-Duke platforms/topsides.

Please ensure you  have your own hard hats (safety helmets), safety boots (no safety shoes allowed), safety glasses and ear protection.
